The Annals of Icarax
Entry 1
Written by Jeff Douglas
The writings of Makuta Icarax:
Every ruler must have his annals, and I am no exception. I, Icarax, the soon-to-be master of shadows, enforcer of the enforcers, and master of the Rahi. I will spread my wings and take flight, and under me the Brotherhood will achieve in a year what it took eleven thousand years to accomplish under Makuta Teridax.
Why do I claim mastery over the Brotherhood? Quite simply, Teridax is dead.
Or rather, he died.
Technically.
This is to say, he feigned death at the hands of the Toa of Light, Takanuva. His mind was used against him and he helped lead the Matoran back to Metru Nui through Mangaia, after preventing them from doing so for a thousand years. His body collapsed under the strain, and while Takanuva’s body remained intact, the shell that contained his energies was destroyed. He was forced to depend on the Piraka to get to Voya Nui and the next stage in his beloved Plan.
Only a short while ago, he asked me to locate the Kraahkan that he had lost in Mangaia. That I did, and what’s more, I replaced my own Mask of Scavenging with it. I, Icarax, have claimed his mask, the insignia of the Makuta, for myself. Where the other Makuta have fallen into line behind him, I have dared to look beyond.
Speaking of the Toa of Light, I might have had the opportunity to finish what Teridax couldn’t were I not on such a tight timetable. As I resurfaced with the Kraahkan, I was very nearly intercepted by Takanuva who was rapidly approaching my position.
I was torn. Was it worth the risk of defying Teridax now?
Not yet. Facing him now will surely interfere with my own plan. That is a task for another day.
So I leave Takanuva, but not before vowing that he would one day feel my wrath. So too will Makuta — Three can play at the game of kolhii.
