The Annals of Icarax
Entry 6

The writings of Makuta Icarax:
I’ll be honest here. Although I was assigned to the region of Karzahni, I haven’t been there in ages. Not that I ever really visited it—I was far more interested in training and fighting in more exciting lands. Karzahni was never high on a tourist’s list of destinations, but around three thousand years ago, the Brotherhood of Makuta had formalized what had already unofficially existed: the isolation and quarantine of Karzahni. The island was declared off-limits, and none were permitted to travel there, with the exception of me. But I had no interest in going. Let the mad tyrant play with his toys. Let him fall into ignorance of the universe around him. Karzahni, once one of the most formidable warriors in the universe, was unwittingly exiled from the universe.
And yet, here I was. Back on the island of Karzahni.
All of the Makuta lieutenants had been tasked with ensuring order in their regions. I had avoided having to do this as the only disruptive force as far as the Plan went—Karzahni himself—had fled the island when we were distracted. Teridax had been enraged that I had let him escape, but as far as I was concerned, I was only tasked with supervising the things on the island. That no longer included Karzahni.
This had left the island in a bizarre state as the Matoran, relieved at the absence of their master but fearing it to be some trick, continued their normal lives. Only now, when I absolutely must get the Staff of Artakha to Teridax, do they begin acting up.
So, naturally I prioritize them over Teridax.
Karzahni is just as bleak as I remembered. The sky is an eternal gray, and the landscape isn’t much better. Long ago, the oceans around Karzahni receded, landlocking the original kingdom and opening up more dry waste beyond the mountains rimming the valley. The tyrant expanded the region he considered “Karzahni” to include the new borders, not that it did him much good. In the time since I was last here, the banks to the south started fissuring as a strange filth has spread up from the oceans. Even now it threatens to crumble the island.
My leisure time is short lived, however. I learn quickly that Onua Nuva was leading the Toa Nuva in pursuit of me, an implication that would make this trip much more interesting. Although I had already dealt with the Toa of Earth, the idea of battling all six Toa Nuva, the most powerful Toa in existence, sounded most appealing. Teridax had failed to properly discipline them before. Now I would finish the job he started. I will finish what he never could. I wait hidden, trembling in anticipation of what is to be a most thrilling battle.
Ah, there they are!
