The Annals of Icarax
Entry 4

The writings of Makuta Icarax:
It turned out I had much less time than I thought I had. I received word from my spies that the Toa Nuva were departing Odina, and I had no doubt that they would have found a way to pry the Shadowed One of his knowledge. The Shadowed One was always a weak, pathetic individual. From the start, the Makuta had been responsible for every one of his greatest achievements, and even now the only reason he and his organization still exists is to fight us. The war runs interference while the Brotherhood manipulates the finer parts of Teridax’s scheme.
I had to bash a few skulls and smash some Kanohi, but the Vortixx females fell fast before raw brutality and I easily overpowered them. The males, of course, are too spineless to do anything except protest. I got my information fast and traveled to the region where the Staff was said to be buried.
Once I arrived, I was directed to a store room several floors beneath the plot of a prominent Vortixx weaponsmith. The store room was filled with weapons of all varieties, and I was tempted to steal a few. Some of Xia’s most famous creations were here, and Destral runs low on most of them. I noted this place for the future.
The Staff of Artakha occupied a special location within the store room, and I took it from its pedestal. The staff was long and sturdy with sleek double-edged blades on either end. It was an impressive weapon, I will admit, and when Teridax finishes with it, I will have to reclaim it.
Now it’s just a waiting game, and as I understand it, they will be here soon enough. There are few who earn the privilege of my patience, but this is an encounter I happily anticipate. Makuta Teridax has ordered that no other Makuta face these Toa Nuva, preferring that the encounter be savored for the final battle. But accidents do happen. After hearing so many reports about this Toa, I can be forgiven if my curiosity gets the better of me.
